Cheyenne Sunrise Lions 32nd Annual Ride for Sight and 2nd Annual Tour de Donut

On August 4th the Sunrise Lions held the 32nd Annual Ride for Sight, a 100 kilometer supported Bicycle Ride. The day before the 2nd annual Tour de Donut was staged. (This is actually an outgrowth of the Family Ride that had been held the same day as the Ride for Sight in years past.)

68 riders rode various distances over the 50 km. “out and back” course. Rest stops with snacks, porta-potties and smiling Lions were placed approximately 10 miles apart along the route.  Club members from the Cheyenne (Noon), Frontier and Pine Bluffs Lions Clubs supported this fund raiser/community service project by manning rest stops and driving “sag wagons.”

28 riders participated in the Tour de Donut over a 3 mile “out and back” course along the Cheyenne Greenway from Cahill Park to Mylar Park. Pirates and Krakens made every effort to purloin the riders’ donuts. Each child participating received a small treasure chest filled with donut holes (what else!).

The combined net proceeds of the RFS and Tour de Donut exceeded $8,400, the best total in the past three years.
